Redefining the word "Remix"
This Detroit native is a renaissance woman indeed. A DJ, vocalist, and producer, Maria Elena "Ri Ri" Garcia has truly earned the moniker, “Rimarkable” after rocking crowds on international dance floors for over two decades. In the company of world stars such as George Clinton or Madonna or even legendary DJ colleagues (Gene Farris, Yuksek, Bonobo, Francois K, Super Flu, and Hyenah), or wowing dance floor crowds on Boiler Room TV, her unique sound becomes ceremony with a witches’ brew of House and Techno, in a Soul, Funk and Disco cauldron. A seasoned veteran of dance floor magic, she is able to make any genre become a beacon of bliss.
Outside of her own performances, and producing her own work, Rimarkable takes on the roll for others as well. She has penned and performed commercial jingles, her original work was featured in several off-Broadway productions, award winning short films, and has been found on the fashion runways of Mercedes-Benz NY Fashion Week. Detroit legendary heavy-hitter Waajeed, signed her as the first artist on his Dirt Teck Reck label in 2018. Her Spring 2018 DTR release, "I'm In Trouble", also appears on Carl Craig's Planet E Label release, "Detroit Love: Vol. 3", compiled by Waajeed.
Rimarkable is the creator and instructor of The Alchemy of DJing Learning Workshops, which focus as a means to creatively engage in social justice, and empowering women and youth. Her lectures on DJ culture and music have been presented internationally at several festivals, universities, and art institutions. Rimarkable is the co-creator, producer, and resident DJ for NYC’s JOY Party BK, and the global event EVERYBODY RANDOM. She currently resides in Brooklyn, NY where owns and operates her creative production company, Rimarkable Things.
